These four forms of negativity are to be avoided at all cost whenever you are dealing with conflict management within your relationship. After being watched by scientists for over two months it was discovered that the risk of couples getting divorced highly depends on how well they were able to manage conflict within their relationship.
Avoid Criticism. You should avoid bringing criticism in a relationship at all cost. By always criticizing your partner, you will be building up resentment towards him. It is advised that instead of criticizing, one should complain without blaming anyone by simply stating a positive need. You can be able to achieve this by talking about your feelings and then express a positive need.
You should see to it that you don’t have contempt for your loved one. This can be achieved by building a culture of respect, as well as appreciation in your relationship.
Avoid being defensive. In addition to this you should also be open to your partner’s suggestions as well as comments.
Refusing to listen is a common feature which is portrayed in almost every conflict. To avoid this ensure that you practice physiological self-shooting. The first step of this is usually avoiding the conflict in the first place.
